We’re excited to introduce the Idle On! PLUS Version 2, enhanced with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) for improved performance and reliability. This upgraded version maintains all the functionality of our original Idle On! product while offering several key benefits:

With Idle On! PLUS, you get the best of both worlds
The Idle On! PLUS includes the original feature to bypass Ford’s 30-minute idle shutdown—but adds High Idle Mode. Flip a switch (either your upfitter switch or any simple 12V switch) within the first 20 minutes of idling, and you’ll engage high idle mode (1160 to 1200 RPM for diesels, and 960 to 980 RPM for gas engines). Whether you need regular idle or high idle, the PLUS version takes care of it.
Important: To activate high idle, make sure your parking brake is set and flip the switch within 20 minutes of idling. This ensures the high idle engages before the regular bypass kicks in.

Why You Need Idle On! PLUS
The Idle On! PLUS solves the hassle of automatic shutdown after 30 minutes of idling—an issue Ford is aware of and cant, or won’t fix. It’s perfect for anyone in law enforcement, firefighting, utility work, roadside inspections, K9 units, ranching, and oil fields—any job requiring extended idling.
Available in “Plug-n-Play” or “You Wire” versions.
Plug-n-Play Version, is truly that, all wired up with a factory FORD plug. All you have to do is plug it into your SEIC plug and forget it. Nothing more to do.
You Wire Version, you will have 6 wires to connect to the SEIC pigtail that is in your pickup in addition to one 12v wire from one of your upfitters switches, or an aftermarket switch of your choice. With your Idle On! purchase we will include a wiring diagram and heat shrink connectors to help you seamlessly make the connections.

Our fire dept purchased a 2023 Ford F-550 rescue truck that has the auto-shutdown feature. The truck has 12v scene lights we use for night-time incidents, and it’s unacceptable for it to shut off after 30 minutes. The dealer said there was no Ford-approved option for disabling the auto-shutdown, but we found the Idle On at Merlin’s. While you can find similar devices on Youtube that do the same thing, I chose the Idle On because of the sturdy box the components come in. We bought the non-plugged version for the faster delivery, but found we couldn’t have used the plug-and-play version because the fire truck manufacturer had already used some of the wires on the body-builder plug. We asked the builder if we could share the wires, but they didn’t have a real answer. Because most of the wires report vehicle status (transmission in park, emergency brake on, etc), we decided to go ahead and connect the Idle On in parallel with the circuits already being used by the builder. So far, we have had no problems with things working, or experienced any unanticipated consequences. We will definitely add the Idle On to two new brush trucks when they are delivered.
